Fossil Bay School & Kindergarten is based in Fossil Bay, a rural farm-like setting. Ducks and chickens wander amongst trees, grass and gardens. The children benefit from and respond to the peace of this unique setting. Our school reflects the unique and diverse community and landscape of Waiheke Island.  Two beautiful beaches are within walking distance of the school and often become the classroom of the day for our lucky children. The school is centrally located on the island with main town of Oneroa within 10 minute walking distance.

Located in the Hauraki Gulf of New Zealand, it is only 35 minutes by ferry from downtown Auckland, yet a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Waiheke Island is a picturesque blend of farmland, forest, beaches, vineyards and olive groves. Once you arrive on the island you feel how you can instantly relax, a commuters dream after a long day in the office in the city. Many families wanting to raise children in a country-site like environment close to the city choose Waiheke as their home base. Children get to be children and are raised in proximity of nature – just like in the olden days. The stunning and unrivalled beaches, stellar vineyards, beautiful biking and walking tracks and an active artsy scene are some of the local attractions. Readers of US magazine, Travel + Leisure voted Waiheke Island one of the world's best islands, ahead of Bali, Hawaii and the Greek Islands.
